The Govt. Graduate College for Women Satellite Town Bahawalpur has the distinction of being declared the first community college in the region. To keep pace with the ever-changing demands of the 21st century, the 2-years Associate Degree Programme, ADP has been started ( after phasing out of the Annual BA/BSc system). After getting the degree of ADP,the graduates of this college can get respectable jobs in different departments. Along with this 2-years program, BS (4 years) program has been started successfully, in the subject of Arabic. BS English is also being launched this year. Now the female students can have an opportunity of learning in a peaceful atmosphere in a female institution

College History & Introduction
Govt. Graduate College(W), Satellite Town, Bahawalpur is a prestigious women’s College located in Bahawalpur. It was established in 16th September 1999 and was housed in H.B.F.C building acquired temporarily by the Punjab Government. It moved to its present campus on 07-02-2011. Govt. Graduate College for Women Satellite Town, Bahawalpur (previously known as Degree College) is the first female college in the Southern Punjab to be declared as “Community College” which PHEC initiated to bridge the gap, between the curricula taught in our academic institutions and demands/needs of the market.
Govt. Graduate College for Women Satellite Town, Bahawalpur offers a variety of subjects at Intermediate Level. Two Years Associate Degree Programme (ADP) has replaced BA/BSc Degrees as per instructions of PHEC . The College introduces market driven subjects like IT skills, Media Studies, home economics, fine arts, Public Administration, Food Science, Environmental Science and Sociology. The rationale behind this 2-years Associate Degree Programme is to produce skilled and oriented youth for the society. The students after completing their 2-years ADP degree, will be successfully inducted in employable fields in the market such as Textile Designing, Media studies, Information Technology and Commerce and many other disciplines. Moreover, these students will be able to get admission in 5th Semester in Islamia University Bahawalpur in the respective disciplines in which they hold ADP degree.

The College has the vision to emerge as leading Girls College of Pakistan committed to impart an academic program of international standards and to help the girls become competent, tolerant and responsible individuals.
